Masters degrees in Applied Chemistry develop advanced postgraduate knowledge in the theory, application and analysis of polymers, fine chemicals and colourants for commercial use and social practise. Programmes include taught MSc degrees, as well as research-based MRes and MPhil programmes. Entry requirements normally include an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Physics or Computer Science.
Why study a Masters in Colour Chemistry?
Colour Chemistry is a highly diverse subject, and can be applied to areas such as graphic design, commercial business and even medical science. As well as a means for understanding industrial sectors, colour is also a basis for human perception and affiliation with everyday reality; from clothing, to branding and even theology or divinity.
Practical training may include instrumental testing such as electronic imaging, and chemical experiments. Data collection and modelling, as well as individual research projects, are a key component of these Masters.
Careers in the field are highly varied, too. You may opt to work solely in the design, development and production of pigments and dyes for commercial use. Or you might explore colour in relation to medical practices such as art therapy, or social practices such as festivals or religious devotion.
