Why study a Masters in Popular Music?

## Depending on your interests, you may opt for a more vocation or theoretical Masters, either training to become a Pop singer professional, or undertake further critical study of the role of Popular Music. The courses are often multidisciplinary in nature, combining theory from communication and cultural studies, alongside contemporary practice. Theoretical courses will offer the opportunity to explore the sociocultural and sociohistorical contexts of Pop Music, its culture, and its dissemination through the media. Practical courses will offer training in vocal techniques, analyse the process of music production, and also explore concepts such as pastiche and simulacrum theory in relation to music composition. As well as performing, careers can include song writing and composing, studio production or practice, stage management or music coaching.
