Entry requirements normally include an appropriate undergraduate degree such as Music, Theology or History.

Why study a Masters in Sacred Music?

## Courses in this field are highly interdisciplinary, exploring concepts from disciplines such as historical musicology, editorial musicology, theology and cultural studies. Religions explored may include Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism and even Pagan music practices. You will explore song writing and composition techniques from the medieval and early modern periods, through to present-day methodologies. This includes an analysis of written manuscripts, particularly Latin, as well as vocal techniques, ensemble performance and instrumental techniques. Whether you choose to specialise in a particular period or religion, careers in the field are highly varied. You might wish to undertake performances as part of a choir or religious community, manage performances in different institutions such as Churches, or even compose contemporary pieces.
