Why study a Masters in Iberian History?
## Courses in the History of Iberia (or Spanish and Portuguese History) offer a diverse range of topics and theories for historical scrutiny, due to the different waves of conquests on the Iberian Peninsula from 500 AD onwards. For example, you may choose to research how the various occupying empires have implemented vast multiculturalism in the area. In particular, you might scrutinise the importance of Islam, Christianity and Judaism on the development and formation of traditions which we still see today. You may also specialise in the history of Iberian art, from the prehistoric cave paintings of the Palaeolithic era, to the sculpture of the Roman period, as well as modern poetry and paintings. Traditional careers in this field include scholarly research for heritage institutions such as museums and archives, as well as teaching and publishing within academia. Other careers may include tourism, conservation or journalism.
