UCL Arts & Humanities, placed 7th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 by subject, is recognised globally for its teaching and research excellence. Since its founding in 1826, UCL has placed the arts and humanities at its core. The first academic chairs in English, German, Greek, Hebrew & Jewish Studies, Italian, Latin, Philosophy, and Spanish were created at UCL between 1826 and 1828. The faculty today houses ten departments, covering disciplines ranging from fine art to creative health to digital humanities, and offers an unparalleled variety in languages, cultures and societies. With our 200-year history of world-leading education and research, we aim to inspire creative and critical thinkers who will foster new constellations of humanities, social sciences, and science for generations to come.
