The Sainsbury Research Unit is offering a limited number of fully funded scholarships for both international and home students, to support outstanding students pursuing the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas at UEA.
Each full scholarship includes:
- Full tuition fees (£25,000 for international students, or £11,750 for home students).
- Maintenance Grant of £15,000.
- Reimbursement, if applicable, of visa costs & UK health surcharge, plus one return journey between home and Norwich (economy class), subject to valid receipts.
- An additional £650 for travel costs related to MA, including museum visits.
You do not need to submit a separate application for this scholarship as those offered a place for the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas will be invited to apply. However, in order to be considered for this scholarship, you do need to apply for the course by 31 January 2027.
To be considered for this scholarship you must be in receipt of an offer of a place on the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, for the academic year 2027/28. To be considered, you will need to have applied for this course by 31 January 2027.
This scholarship is designed to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent talented applicants from pursuing the MA.
This scholarship is open to both home and international students.
Applicants whose first language is not English are encouraged to take an English Proficiency Test prior to applying for the Full Scholarship.
1. Apply for the MA in The Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas for the academic year 2027/29 by 31 January 2027.
2. Selected candidates will be invited to an admission interview.
3. Following successful admissions interviews, eligible candidates will be invited to submit a short essay, with a deadline of 8 March 2027. You will be notified by 20 February 2027 if you have been invited to this stage of the process.
4. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to give a 5 minute presentation, followed by a further interview, during the week commencing 15 March 2027.
5. All successful candidates will be notified whether they have been offered a scholarship by the end of March 2027.
