We have 5 University of Greenwich, School of Law and Criminology Masters Degrees

The School of Law and Centre for Criminology offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Law and Criminology. These are both rigorously academic, highly respected disciplines which are valued by employers.

Teaching and Learning

The School has a proven track record of providing an educationally stimulating environment. Greenwich law students were the most satisfied students in the UK in 2014 (Complete University Guide 2014). Students leave equipped with the skills, knowledge and motivation required for success across a wide range of careers.

The School provides a vibrant and dynamic environment within which to study. A team of dedicated, enthusiastic and approachable staff deliver an exciting range of programmes. Students at every academic stage enjoy a high level of tutor contact. They are encouraged to develop their knowledge and skills, to interact with others and to make the most of the wide range of resources and extra-curricular opportunities available within both the School and the wider university. The skills students need to succeed both academically and professionally are addressed and enhanced by research for seminars and assignments, class presentations, seminar participation and team work. Students build on this through participation in mooting, client interviewing and in running the student journals, Sui Generis and Criminology@gre Student Papers. In addition, the School typically provides skills sessions organised by a variety of employer and professional contacts.

Research

Teaching is enhanced by the research interests of the staff. We have active researchers in fields including property law, legal education, commercial law, business law and human rights, environmental law, family law, shipping and maritime law, criminal law, evidence, international law, deaths in custody, the death penalty, terrorism and policing. The quality and depth of research is further enhanced by a growing postgraduate research community, with a number of PhD students developing research in international law and criminology.

Facilities

The School is based on the beautiful Greenwich Maritime Campus at the Old Royal Naval College on the south bank of the Thames at Greenwich, immediately opposite the financial hub of the Docklands. Students have access to a wide range of academic and social facilities on campus and in the immediate area. Academic facilities include a fully-resourced academic library with the School’s own librarian, extensive IT facilities and social spaces for learning and relaxing. The Students’ Union - with its wide variety of societies and groups - is a few minutes’ walk from the campus, and the surrounding neighbourhood houses a mix of shops, restaurants and pubs and a market, as well as some of London’s well known tourist attractions and a tranquil Royal Park.

Employability

In addition to the stunning campus with its splendid late 17th century buildings, the School is ideally placed for access to Central London, the City and Canary Wharf. Proximity to these established legal, justice and business hubs has helped forge the range of highly successful relationships which the School has developed with a number of major legal, financial and public sector justice organisations. The benefits of these links are demonstrated throughout the School's excellent employability programmes which provide many unique opportunities for its students, both within the curriculum and from many high quality extra-curricular opportunities.
