What’s it like to study a Masters in Chester?

Chester is a historically important city retaining many features of its extensive heritage, including the most complete city walls in England, with parts dating back to an original Roman construction. Elsewhere, a shopping area known as ‘the Rows’ includes old shop buildings with premises below and above street level.

Meanwhile, parts of Chester Cathedral date back to the 11th century and the building is still an important centre of worship as well as providing a stunning graduation venue for local students.

Postgraduates in Chester live and study in one of England’s most beautiful cities, with bars, restaurants and shopping precincts tastefully arranged around historic streets and buildings. Though the city itself is small, it is well connected to some of the largest metropolitan areas in the north of England, including major university cities such as Liverpool and Manchester.

Strong road and rail transport links also make journeys to London and southern England surprisingly convenient, whilst North Wales and the Snowdonia national park are easily accessible across the nearby border.

Universities in Chester

In contrast to its historic surrounds, the University of Chester itself is of much more recent date, having been established in 2005 (though it can trace its origins to a teacher training college founded in the early 19th century).

It has already established a ranking position in and around the UK top 50 and offers various pioneering programmes in subject areas such as public health nutrition and other health sciences.
