About the University of Chester

Founded in 1839, we pre-date all but a handful of other English higher education providers. Based in the heart of a historic city, we are now a forward-thinking modern university with a focus on delivering a sustainable higher education experience that is adaptable to the world around us.

Students have access to a wealth of opportunities while being taught in subject-specific facilities by industry experts and research-active staff. We are well connected to both public and private sector business and are proud we are proud to support the development of three Research Knowledge Exchange Institutes (RKEIs).

We are committed to delivering community, fostering innovation and creativity, and providing education that enriches the lives of our graduates and staff but also contributes to positively shaping the communities and world we are part of. At Chester, we ensure our graduates are not just work ready, they’re world ready.

Chester has a vibrant, diverse and inclusive community, with 14,000 students from 100+ different countries worldwide.

Beautiful and steeped in history, Chester is a bustling 21st century city balancing big-name shopping, eating and living with a thriving independent scene, suitable for anyone on a budget.
