Masters Degrees in Radio Studies

We have 25 Masters Degrees in Radio Studies

Masters degrees in Radio Studies offer advanced training in the historical and cultural significance of radio broadcasting. Consideration is also given to media law and ethical issues. Taught MA courses are typical for this subject, though research oriented MRes and MPhil programmes may also be available at some institutions. Entry requirements normally include an appropriate undergraduate degree, such as Communications or Media Studies.

Why study a Masters in Radio Studies?

## You will explore various genres of radio content, such as features, drama, radio journalism and documentaries, and explore their historical and cultural significance. Though these courses are generally more theoretical than practical in nature, some training will be provided in writing adaptations for radio, and compiling content for digital audio broadcasting (DAB) more generally. Much consideration is given to the governance of radio as a media platform, particularly regarding law, ethics and economics. For example, you might analyse the ethical significance of organisations such as the BBC as public corporations, or the economic significance of radio broadcasting as a communicative tool. Your expertise would be suitable to several roles including news reporting, radio show hosting, commercial production or scriptwriting.
