Vibrant classrooms - Become a member of a close-knit community: Our programs mostly keep the classrooms deliberately on the smaller side to allow the teachers to focus on each individual student.

Our values are grounded in nearly 700 years of Charles University’s academic tradition, while the Faculty of Social Sciences - one of the university’s youngest faculties - continues to pursue innovation in research and education. We are proud of our highly international community, with students from more than 120 countries. This diversity enriches our classrooms, broadens perspectives, and equips graduates with a truly global understanding of contemporary issues.

We believe today’s complex challenges require interdisciplinary thinking. Our study programs integrate insights from multiple fields and emphasize global context, encouraging creative problem-solving and preparing students to address real-world problems with flexibility and depth.

We are committed to advancing knowledge through meaningful research. Our faculty actively participates in international academic debates and collaborates on projects tackling key societal issues. Students are encouraged to engage in research early, gaining hands-on experience and analytical skills essential for both academic and professional success.

You will meet a lot of foreign students in Prague. There are many studying here full-time and each semester, even more students arrive for Erasmus stays. To help international students engage with other students outside of their study programs, a faculty-wide, student-led society was established. It is called FSV UK Circle and you can take a peek at their Instagram at @fsv.uk.circle to see how many various activities they organise and share. The faculty itself also organizes a lot of events for international students, starting with a welcome party right after your arrival to Prague. We also have a Career Day specifically for international students.

You can apply for as many programs as you want, but you need to submit a separate application and pay the application fee for each. Be careful when uploading the attachments in order not to mix them up.

Our scholarships are available for everyone regardless of their country of origin. We offer tuition fee reductions based on excellent results, or partial financial support for students struggling with difficult circumstances. Please note that the Faculty does not offer full scholarships.

Yes, we are happy to accept students who want to transfer to FSV UK. To transfer you have to submit a regular application to the program’s first year. Should you be admitted, you can then have your courses and credits transferred and recognized (those that correspond in content and scope with the study plan of your new program). You can then graduate as soon as you fulfill all study obligations (even in one year).

Of course! There are no age limits set either way. The important factor for us is that you have finished your previous education: secondary school for Bachelor’s applications and Bachelor’s level education for Master’s applications. Your age or a gap between your last study and the present does not matter to us. Quite the opposite: our academic community benefits from the diversity and experience our students bring.

Definitely! Our programs accept students from all different kinds of backgrounds;as long as you have finished your Bachelor’s degree for a Master’s application or finished your secondary education for a Bachelor’s application, you are definitely eligible to apply. Any courses taken in a relevant field are of course an advantage, but the evaluation committees assess other different aspects of your student’s profile as well.
