The Institute for Transport Studies is one of the UK's leading departments for transport teaching and research. Atmospheric processes are investigated using numerical models and field and laboratory experiments from the Earth's surface to the stratosphere.

The School of Healthcare is a large multidisciplinary school within the Faculty of Medicine and Health and one of the largest in the UK. We are in the top five for Nursing and Audiological Studies in the Independent Complete University guide, and first for Social Work in the Guardian league tables.

The School of Healthcare takes pride in being at the forefront of advancing the healthcare agenda, driving positive change and developments in healthcare policy, practice, research and education. The unique multi-disciplinary nature of our School ensures that our students receive a rounded experience enabling them to contribute positively as life-long citizens in the healthcare community.

We have a broad ranging team of highly trained staff and award winning researchers contributing to the professional areas of Audiology, Cardiology, Counselling, Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Radiography and Social Work

The school offers courses of study at undergraduate and continuing professional development and post graduate study. This incorporates programmes with professional registration, as well as multi professional programmes for qualified staff. Research degrees including MPhil and PhD are offered.

The nursing staff within the school work closely with NHS colleagues to provide education and research to enhance practice. The Academic and Clinical Unit for Musculoskeletal Nursing (ACUMeN) is a joint unit between the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust and the University which aims to integrate education and research with practice. The Palium Group is a collaboration between the School and clinicians at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and St Gemma's Hospice, Leeds.

The School of Mathematics warmly welcomes applications for postgraduate study. We take pride in the calibre of our staff, in the breadth of our postgraduate programmes, and in the successes of our postgraduates as they develop their careers within a stimulating and supportive academic environment. The School comprises four departments: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Financial Mathematics. With pre-departure briefings in many countries, meet-and-greet schemes at local stations and induction programmes on arrival, we do everything we can to help new students settle into university life.
