The School of Arts and Humanities offers a dynamic and progressive approach to a range of subject areas including art, design, architecture, music, humanities, media and filmmaking in an environment of teaching and research excellence.


The School, one of the largest of its kind in the UK, is driven by a collaborative approach that takes place through initiatives such as the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Temporary Contemporary and the Huddersfield Literature Festival developing outcomes of a regional, national and global scale.

We are an award winning, professionally accredited School with a strong focus on excellence in interdisciplinary teaching and research. The School consists of four linked Departments – Nursing, Allied Health Professions Sport and Exercise, Psychology and Behavioural and Social Sciences, and is home to over 5,400 undergraduates, 1,700 postgraduates and nearly 250 postgraduate research students.
