About the The College of Legal Practice (Online)

The College's purpose is to help legal professionals reach their unique potential. We aim to develop excellent legal professionals through personalised, flexible, online learning. We are passionate about increasing access to the solicitor profession and as such we aim to keep our programmes affordable, flexible and accessible.

Our virtual team of experienced supervisors and student services colleagues are dedicated to providing you with excellent tuition and support.

The College is a registered higher education provider with New Degree Awarding Powers, awarded by the Office for Students (OfS), and registered with Ofsted as an apprenticeship provider. As such, we can award Masters in Law and Graduate Diploma in Law qualifications.

Dan passed SQE1 and SQE2 whilst studying on the LLM in Legal Practice.

"I’m Dan, and I’m a qualified solicitor who studied the College’s LLM in Legal Practice. I passed SQE1 and SQE2 first time whilst working as an Advice Session Supervisor for Citizens Advice in Carlisle. The College allowed me to continue my work with Citizens Advice, which I loved for many years, while working towards my aspirations to fully qualify as a solicitor. I am also part of the local LGBTQ+ community and I am involved in a local LGBTQ+ charity in my spare time. I have now moved on to another position as Supervising Solicitor at Cumbria Law Centre.

I really enjoyed my two years with The College of Legal Practice. The pastoral support and 1-2-1 supervision really stood out. The time and dedication my tutor gave me was fantastic, and I also really enjoyed the group sessions, which allowed me to ensure I was keeping on track with my studies and the module content."

Hi, I’m Kate. I studied the Graduate Foundation in Law with the College of Legal Practice. While I always had an interest in law during my school years, when it came to applying to university I struggled to decide whether to go down the law or non-law route. I chose International Management and Spanish at the University of Bath, and took several law-focused modules throughout. This was enough to convince me that law was in my future, so on graduation, I decided to take on the GFL to make sure of it. I chose the GFL straight from my undergraduate degree as I was still in the study mindset, and felt I needed that to bolster my knowledge of law before going straight to SQE1 and SQE2. I've now completed the GFL and I plan to complete SQE1 and SQE2. I've recently secured a training contract at Gateley Legal which I'm excited to start next year!

Yes, we have lots of international students studying with us at the College. The course fees are the same for students based abroad, and the design of the online learning ensure that the majority of the learning can be completed at any time. There are live sessions that may be difficult to attend in different time zones, but many of them are recorded.

The LLM in Legal Practice course fees are £7,245 and the Graduate Diploma in Law costs £3,950 for 2026. We also offer SQE preparation courses from £2,200.

The College offers SQE preparation courses, an LLM in Legal Practice that prepares students for the SQE, and a law conversion course, the Graduate Diploma in Law and Solicitor Apprenticeships.

Yes, but some flexibility is helpful for you to make the most out of the courses and give yourself the best opportunity to pass the SQE and gain your qualifications. The online learning is flexible, and you work to weekly deadlines. However, there are live, virtual 1-2-1 and group sessions, workshops and assessments scheduled Monday-Friday, 9-5, that you will benefit from attending.
