About the course

This Master of Laws Programme will prepare you pass the SQE and develop the core legal practitioner and business skills that you need as newly qualified solicitor.

Within this Programme, students will take the following modules:

a) Solicitors Legal Knowledge (preparation for SQE1) (30 credits)

b) Solicitors Legal Skills (preparation for SQE2) (30 credits)

Entry Requirements

- UK undergraduate degree with minimum 2:2 classification or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Applications are still invited from those with a third-class degree, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- If English isn’t your first language, English language qualifications equivalent to IELTS at level 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6 in each component

If you don't have knowledge of the Law of England and Wales, we recommend you take our Graduate Foundation in Law Programme prior to starting the LLM.

Scholarships

You must meet the following general criteria:

Meet the relevant course’s admissions criteria
- Be able to take up a place on the relevant course between 1st February 2023 and 31st July 2023.
- Able to commit to taking the next SQE assessments after the completion of your preparation courses.

As part of our commitment to increasing access to the solicitor profession, the College has defined a set of criteria that successful applicants must meet.

You need to fit one or more of the criteria below:
- have attended a state school and the first generation of your family to attend University
- from a low-income background/received free school meals aged 11-16 due to financial hardship
- from a racial minority
- are/been a refugee/asylum seeker
- have a disability or long-term health condition
- are LGBTQ+
- spent more than 3 months in local authority care
- face another barrier that is preventing you qualifying through the SQE

The following will also be taken into account:

- The barriers that you are facing in terms of progressing your qualification via the SQE
- How securing a scholarship will assist you
- Your commitment to becoming a solicitor
