Graduate Employability: Top Universities in Italy as Ranked By Employers

Thinking of studying a Masters or PhD in Italy? But how well will your university equip you with the skills needed for the real world? Let’s find out which universities in Italy are known to produce the most employable graduates!

Why is graduate employability important?

Graduate employability is the ability of graduates to find and keep a job after university. It’s an important marker of how well your university can help you reach your career goals. The Global University Employability Ranking is an excellent source to look at.

Top Italian universities for graduate employability

We‘ve taken a look at all the Italian universities that have been featured in the Times Higher Education Global University Employability Rankings 2022.

#1 Bocconi University

Known for its MSc degrees in subjects like Management, Economics and Politics, the Bocconi University is the top university in Italy for employability. Almost 84% of MSc graduates are already employed on graduation day with companies like Amazon, European Commission and the Bank of Italy (Banca d'Italia), among others. Students can also take advantage of The Bocconi Mentoring Programme through which current students can get guidance and mentorship from alumni.

#2 Politecnico di Milano

As Italy’s largest technical university, Politecnico di Milano offers postgraduate courses in Engineering, Architecture and Design. 90% of Masters graduates are able to find work within six months of completing their course. Companies like Pirelli, Armani and Stantec, among others, have hired graduates from Politecnico di Milano.

#3 Sapienza University of Rome

Sapienza University of Rome is one of the largest universities in Europe and offers postgraduate degrees across 63 departments. The university supports students in taking up both curricular and extracurricular internships during their studies to gain work experience. They do this through a designated online job portal and regular recruitment days. EY and Generali Italia Spa, to name a few, are popular companies that have hired Sapienza University of Rome graduates.

#4 University of Bologna

With a 79% employment rate, The University of Bologna is the fourth best university in Italy for graduate employability. One of the reasons for its reputation is the Job Placement wing of the university which supports students in finding the right job for them during their studies or after graduating. Students from the University of Bologna have gone on to work at institutions like Disney+ and Doctors Without Borders among many others.

Do rankings matter for postgraduate study?
