One of the world’s leading technological institutions, RIT is a vibrant, connected community that is home to diverse, ambitious, and creative students from more than 100 countries. It offers an incredible array of academic programs; a diverse, committed, and accessible faculty; sophisticated facilities; and an unusual emphasis on experiential learning.
RIT offers more than 100 master’s, doctoral, and advanced certificate programs built upon our strengths in combination with market demand. Many of our graduate programs are interdisciplinary, allowing you to benefit from and take advantage of the strengths of several of our colleges and their faculty.
In 2018-19, 31% of our graduate students completed at least one semester of cooperative education. More than 600 international students on F-1 and J-1 visas are currently completing 1–3 additional years of post-graduation training at companies in the U.S.
RIT has well-equipped, state-of-the-art facilities that are rarely matched on other campuses. Our campus is sophisticated and high tech with the latest equipment, software, studios, laboratories, and conveniences— the tools you need to explore and excel. We help you utilize the latest technology and understand its impact on the world.
You’ll be taught by faculty with years of experience teaching and working in their fields. Our faculty are passionate about their disciplines and their role in both the lab and the classroom. They are innovative and resourceful. They engage students in the process of discovery and the contribution of new knowledge to their fields.
The physical beauty of our campus comes from an interplay of natural and park-like settings with modern buildings, architectural features, and artwork prominently on display. Comfortable spaces throughout campus offer places to relax or work on projects and team assignments. Our community of more than 20,000 students, faculty, and staff has made a commitment to advance sustainability in all areas—in academic programs and research initiatives, in our campus operations and consumption practices.
The Princeton Review features RIT in the 2020 edition of its annual book "The Best 385 Colleges", giving RIT high marks for diversity and campus life in addition to having rigorous academics and helpful professors. US News & World Report ranks RIT among the top third “National Universities,” earning praise for its co-operative education program and its graduation rate for students from low-income families, as well as its business and engineering colleges, according to its 2020 edition of "Best Colleges." The latest Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education rankings place RIT 155th among all U.S. colleges and No. 38 for engagement—how immersed students are in the academic experience, a result of survey responses on the difficulty of classes and the students’ likelihood to recommend RIT to their peers, among other indicators—placing RIT in the top 10 percent in the nation.
RIT attracts students from every U.S. state and more than 2,600 international students from more than 100 countries. More than 3,000 students of color have elected to study at RIT. The variety of backgrounds and perspectives helps prepare you to work with individuals from different cultures and countries in today’s global business society. Adding a social and educational dynamic not found at any other university are more than 1,200 deaf and hard-of-hearing students supported by RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
