The British Psychotherapy Foundation offers a full path to becoming a qualified psychotherapist, from introductory and pre-qualification courses, through to postgraduate training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Jungian Analysis and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.

About British Psychotherapy Foundation

With over 700 members, the bpf is a registered charity and one of the largest psychotherapy membership and training organisations in the UK. Our approach to therapy is based on the rich tradition of psychoanalytic and Jungian theory and practice. We offer courses in London, Newcastle and online.

Our trainings are accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and by the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP); both bodies are registered with the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). We train psychotherapists through high-quality, accredited, and evidence-based courses.

Graduates of the bpf are equipped to work intensively with vulnerable adults, adolescents and children. By intensively, we mean our psychotherapists treat their patients at least once-weekly, but more usually two or three times a week and for at least a year (and often longer).

We were recently awarded ‘Investors in Diversity – silver status’ by the National Centre for Diversity (NCD), and ‘Disability Confident Committed Employer’ status. In 2023, our Jungian trainings were also awarded the ‘Diversity in Training’ Award from the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). This award acknowledges training and supervision in our profession that gives substantive and considered attention to thinking about diversity.

We are leaders in research and publish the internationally prestigious British Journal of Psychotherapy (BJP). In 2023 – 6,748 institutions across the globe offered access to content in the BJP. Many of our members are academics and/or practitioner researchers with links to University College London (UCL), Birkbeck, Exeter University and Essex University.
