About The University of Turku

As one of the leading universities in Finland, the University of Turku offers study and research opportunities in eight faculties and five independent units – expertise ranging from humanities to natural sciences.

The University’s aim and ambition is to provide students with innovative problem-solving skills and a high-standard, multidisciplinary education based on the latest research.

Thanks to the outstanding services, compact campus and active academic community, international students and scholars feel at home from the very beginning of their stay.

Both the Student Union of the University of Turku and the City of Turku offer you a versatile selection of free time activities from culture and sports to outdoor recreation.

The Student Union is also an umbrella organisation for many student associations. One of the best ways to meet other students and get involved in student life is by joining these associations.

International Students of Turku Universities (ISTU ry) is an organisation for international degree students in Turku. ISTU provides opportunities for both Master’s degree students and doctoral candidates to meet each other and enjoy social activities.

No, that is not possible. There is only one application period per year (in January) and we can’t accept applications outside that application period.

Tuition fees will be charged from citizens of a country outside the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.

Applying for a scholarship is simple: You just indicate “yes” to the appropriate question on your online application form for the programme. The scholarships are available for those who are subject to tuition fees.

The University does not directly provide accommodation to its students. Students are responsible for seeking accommodation for themselves on time. However, in Turku, the Turku Student Village Foundation (TYS) provides affordable quality housing for students.
