Campus Life at the University of East London

We have three campus sites across East London where you can enjoy access to over 90 clubs and societies, one of London's best gyms, two student hubs, a variety of cafes and restaurants, a community garden, an on-site nursery, our student bar, and a lively program of on- and off-campus entertainment events.

Clubs and Societies

University life is about more than academics;it's about personal growth, independence, and fun. With nearly 90 clubs and societies, including 26 sports clubs, you'll find plenty of opportunities to meet like-minded people and enrich your student experience. From rugby union to competitive cheerleading, many students enjoy using the iconic facilities at the Olympic Park in Stratford. Our multicultural campus offers clubs and societies in cultural, faith, academic, and recreational areas, such as film, fashion, gospel music, samba fusion, and student radio. Freshers' Week is the perfect time to explore these opportunities at the Welcome Fair in SportsDock.

Entertainment

Starting with Welcome Week, UEL offers a diverse entertainment program, including live music, comedy, dance nights, quizzes, and competitions. Welcome Week features nighttime coach trips to major London entertainment venues. UEL Students' Union (UELSU) hosts a vibrant social calendar with events at the Underground Bar, such as comedy, karaoke, 'open mic,' sports, and party nights. There are also games evenings, film screenings, and occasional day trips to destinations like Stratford-upon-Avon and Brighton.

Food and Drink

UEL caters to all tastes and preferences, reflecting our student diversity. The Docklands campus features eateries like Starbucks, Costa Coffee, The Edge canteen, Munch café, and Origins. The Stratford campus offers Starbucks and The Green restaurant. For those who prefer cooking, there is an on-campus shop and nearby supermarkets.

Sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability includes UEL Eat Well, which distributes leftover supermarket food to students weekly. Starbucks cafes on campus also offer recycled coffee grounds for composting.



Everyone should feel safe, support and secure at university. At the University of East London, security is on-hand 24/7 and our dedicated support staff ensure students receive all the support they need throughout the duration of their studies. Our dedicated Student Hub can help with a variety of issues. From health and wellbeing to student money advice and academic support - whatever students need, we’re here to help.

We have an experienced Disability & Dyslexia Support Service who are passionate about enabling students to achieve success in their learning, life at university and long-term career. We advise registering early to ensure all required funding and support is in place before the term starts.

We ask all students to provide an emergency contact on their university record. We use this in the unlikely case of a medical emergency. Normally, medical staff will make contact if they consider it necessary. Our Health and Wellbeing team is equipped to communicate effectively and sensitively when working with parents/guardians and students.
