Tell us about your educational and/or career journey since you graduated from Brunel?
I finished my course at Brunel in March 2022 and immediately started working for KPMG from April 2022. I am on a graduate program where I will be on a rotational scheme, taking on various roles and exploring different fields. Currently I am based with the Release Management (service delivery) team which involves managing the software development lifecycle and deploying software for client use.

What’s been the highlight of your career journey so far?
The turning point of my career was when I moved to London. I joined Brunel in January 2021 but like everyone, life was stuck due to the pandemic. Finally, in September 2021 I managed to move to London and since then there's no looking back. This place has taught me everything from living independently to dealing with problems alone. The exposure I have gained is irreplaceable and I will always be grateful for the opportunities I got after coming here.

If you could give one piece of advice to current Brunel students, what would that be?
DON'T GIVE UP! I know the student life will be tough for the initial few months but just remember why you started and take one day at a time. Give 100% and believe me, it will all make sense one day!

What would be your top tip or key advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey after leaving Brunel?
Kudos to your journey until now, many more to go! A few tips before you move forward: (1) Don't hesitate in asking questions; everyone has been there and knows how it feels so they will help you as much as they can. (2) Don't stop here and keep on learning. (3) Networking is the key - trust me, it’s not overhyped!

What are you passionate about and why?
I am passionate about pursuing affordable and clean energy, precisely aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 7. My unwavering commitment to clean energy is driven by the profound global issue of energy poverty and its far-reaching impacts on socioeconomic development, particularly in marginalised communities. Witnessing the debilitating effects of energy poverty firsthand has ignited a fire within me to make a tangible difference.

How would you say your Brunel experience has helped you to get where you are today?
My Brunel experience has been nothing short of transformative. Graduating with a prestigious degree in Renewable Energy Engineering, accredited by esteemed institutions like IMechE and the Energy Institute, provided me with a solid academic foundation. Beyond academics, Brunel nurtured personal growth, fostered connections, and offered invaluable practical experience and industry collaborations. This combination of knowledge, skills, and a supportive community has propelled my career as a Technical Sales Engineer with a pioneering solar technology developer. Brunel's contribution to my achievements cannot be overstated, as it has shaped the person I am today and provided the springboard for my professional success.

Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?
I chose to study at Brunel University due to its renowned teaching and learning excellence, specifically within the MSc program in Renewable Energy Engineering. The program's accreditations from the IMechE and the Energy Institute were compelling factors. Furthermore, the university's location in London, a vibrant city, combined with its diverse international student community and exceptional accommodation services, solidified my decision.

Tell us about your educational and/or career journey since you graduated from Brunel.
The journey has been amazing, filled with ups and down which has made be a stronger individual in my life.

What does a typical day at work involve for you?
I develop code and do RAN testing.

What’s been the highlight of your career journey so far?
Being a valuable member of the team. Learnt a lot from my teammates and seniors.

Brunel has helped me to attend interviews very efficiently by taking the right approach and answering questions confidently.

Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?
I chose Brunel University as one of my overseas agencies suggested Brunel to me and I do believe this was the best decision ever made as Brunel has always been supportive of their students during the placement year and in the pandemic period.

What is your best memory of studying here?
Attending lectures in person before the pandemic and meeting the placement Department.

If you could give one piece of advice to current Brunel students, what would that be?
Work hard, focus on career objectives, consistency matters so make sure to keep your grades right. Utilize the Brunel services offered to students and also take part in Brunel plus as this will help you.

What would be your top tip or key advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey after leaving Brunel?
Make sure to understand what you're good at and make sure to update your CVs. Also, get in touch with the placement department team at Brunel to receive the right guidance whilst on placement.
