I was never restricted whilst studying at Leeds Beckett – if there was something I wanted to try, my tutors would try their best to help me, so I was able to tailor the course to the route I was interested in. As a result, I gained knowledge of motion capture and I’m now in a position to recommend the right software to my company.

The impact of studying a postgraduate course at LBU has been life-changing for me. I made some great contacts and found the tutors very knowledgeable and supportive. The highlight was graduating and being able to change my career. I now do my dream job as a result of doing the course.

Doing a PG Cert allowed me to grow my expertise and gave me much more confidence and credibility. It also means I now have a wealth of knowledge to pass on during the physical training sessions I lead as a physical training instructor in the army. The learning environment was excellent - the teaching staff had great experience and the university works closely with lots of professional athletes.

Whilst I had a secure career in place before I did my master’s, it didn't make me feel energised and I was keen to do something I really enjoyed. Doing the master’s was challenging but also creative and fun, and the support I received from my course director was invaluable. I’ve been able to change my career completely and due to my knowledge and experience I have been quickly promoted within my organisation.

"Having come from a largely music and sound production background, the course was hugely beneficial in providing both the insight and direction I felt I needed to understand the game audio field as well as the necessary tools that come with it. The modules and tutors offered a focused variety of theoretical and technical guidance with the freedom to cater my work around the areas I was most interested in exploring."

There were so many opportunities available on my masters. A show that I made at Leeds Beckett has toured internationally. Thanks to the encouragement of my tutors, this course has really helped to launch my career as a performing artist.

"In today's news gathering operations, you need to be able to work both in print and digitally. Having undertaken the news and feature writing modules on my course, I know exactly how to write a feature when I need to and I am just as comfortable when I have to sub-edit some news copy."

Our degree allowed us the creative freedom to build our own garden design projects. The tutors were really encouraging and gave us the knowledge to begin our careers and help grow our business. We're now able to reconnect people with their natural surroundings through our garden designs.

"The great thing about getting this qualification was the lecturers. They were always happy to answer any questions as well as being a good point of reference to guide you in the future. The course was well structured and easily transferable. The skills learned in the course were easy to apply in a real world environment."

"I love the flexibility Leeds Beckett offers. I was able to balance studying around my full-time employment - I'm already seeing the benefits in my professional career."

Company Accountant

"My passion for architecture was sparked while I was at school. Going on to study at Leeds Beckett was perfect for me. I had access to industry-standard facilities, dedicated support from expert teaching staff and the social perks of living in a buzzing city. My course gave me the confidence to go out and get the industry experience I needed, and I'm now a fully qualified architect."

Architect The Harris Partnership

After leaving the army I worked as a technician for a civilian company. Over time I knew I wanted more from my career and to move into management. My master's allowed me to interact with fellow students and lecturers, giving me an insight into the different ways people approach tasks - something which is invaluable in my current role as project manager.

Corporate Systems Improvement Project Manager

"Having been involved in both the creative and technical sides of the music industries for most of my life, this course has enabled the further development of my existing skills and has given me exposure to new concepts that will be invaluable for my future professional, artistic, and academic work. Overall, the MA Popular Music & Culture course has expanded my knowledge in broad fields of popular music studies and allowed me to focus on projects and research in specific areas of my choice."
