About the Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty is part of the University of Regensburg. We are committed to the concept of the unity of research and teaching. Academic work must be independent of external constraints and ideological influences. This includes the freedom of the researcher to choose the subject and method of research themselves and the freedom of the student to decide on their own choice of study.

The University assumes its social and ethical responsibility in research and teaching. It is committed to human dignity, the just and peaceful coexistence of people, cultures and states, and the need to protect nature. Science is indispensable for the development of all areas of society. The university therefore addresses social issues and contributes to their solution. Academic education shapes the whole person. The University sees its task in the training of qualified and responsible young academics.

Research, especially basic research, is the central task of the university and the basis of lively teaching. The University of Regensburg strives to expand and deepen scientific knowledge. It safeguards the freedom of research, is committed to upholding ethical standards and takes seriously its responsibility for the impact of its research on the development of society. The University of Regensburg expects and promotes the research activities of its members and attracts outstanding personalities for research and teaching. International Master in Cancer & Immunity

For the new Master´s program "Cancer and Immunity" we welcome motivated students with an interest in Cancer research and Immunology. The Master´s program is embedded in a cutting-edge research environment. The students will have the opportunity to perform two half-year long internships in two different research laboratories - for example at the Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy.

The Master's program is spread over four semesters. Lectures and method courses are offered in the first semester, which starts in October. These courses will equip the student with a thorough understanding of Immunology as well as of Cancer Research. Furthermore, the students will acquire a FELASA license and learn the basics of Bioinformatic as it is currently used in research Labs.

From the second semester onwards, students can take part in individual internships in research groups focused on immunological or cancer-related research. Prior to their first internship, the students will perform thorough literature research to their upcoming project and formulate a hypothesis for their research question which they can test in the following internship.

We value a culture based on respect, diversity, equality and inclusion. These values are essential to fostering academic excellence and unlocking the potential of each individual. Throughout their studies, students receive ongoing support, including regular mentoring meetings, to ensure they have the support they need to succeed. In addition to academic support, students are actively involved in scientific projects, fostering a collaborative learning environment. We also host a variety of scientific and social events, giving students the opportunity to interact with faculty and peers and fostering a sense of belonging. By adhering to these principles, we aim to create a vibrant and supportive environment where everyone can thrive academically and personally.
