Aalborg has a long history, dating back to its foundation as an Iron Age trading post and Viking settlement. Aalborg’s waterfront has witnessed recent redevelopment, making the most of its beautiful setting along the Limfjord. Beyond Aalborg itself lies the opportunity to travel and explore other parts of northern Denmark, while the city’s international airport and ferry services allow for travel further afield.
Universities in Aalborg
Aalborg’s first higher education institution, Aalborg University, was founded in 1974 and is now the fifth largest in Denmark.
Aalborg University provides the majority of postgraduate courses in Aalborg, but the city is also home to a number of other higher education institutions. These include specialist providers such as the Aalborg Business College and Tech School Aalborg, as well as campuses of other Danish university-level institutions.
Careers in Aalborg
Aalborg’s location makes it well-placed to connect Scandinavia with continental Europe. Key sectors in Aalborg include IT, logistics, manufacturing and construction. Aalborg also plays an important role in the energy industry as the home of the largest wind turbine blade factory.
