Why study a Masters in Contemporary Dance?
## Depending on your interests and future career prospects, courses in this field can be either theoretically or vocationally focussed. While many courses combine both approaches, some courses are geared more towards rigorous dance training for those with aims of becoming a professional dancer or dance teacher. Courses will however typically examine contemporary themes and historical concepts surrounding the Contemporary Dance industry, alongside physical dance practise. This includes an investigation of theoretical concepts such as aesthetics, cultural ideologies and technical attributes. For example, you might examine body awareness such as isolation, focussing on selective movement of different body parts for artistic effect. Careers are highly varied, and could include specialisation in fields such as somatic wellbeing and dance psychotherapy. Many contemporary dancers go on to combine their expertise with other contemporary arts such as drama, physical theatre and live art.MA Dance
