This information is based on the latest rankings tables, researched and published by Times Higher Education, QS and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

For such a small region, Hong Kong ranks impressively high across the three global league tables.
Of the 20 universities in Hong Kong, five rank amongst the top 100 in the world. The highest ranking, the University of Hong Kong (the city's oldest higher education institution) also ranks at number 6 in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026.
Although Hong Kong is now governed by China , the city's universities still reflect much of the educational structures established during its time as a British colony .
