The Masters of Business Administration (MBA) is a competitive and prestigious postgraduate degree. These courses are designed for business professionals to develop the leadership skills, network and initiative needed to thrive in management and entrepreneurship.
Because of the high status associated with MBAs, many graduates will find themselves suitable for jobs with a significant salary increase. Using the most recent available data from QS, we’ve taken a look at the top five countries that offer MBA graduates the most generous salaries.
In at number five, we have Australia. Home of multiple leading business schools, MBAs in this country usually take between 16 months and two years. Some universities also offer fast-track courses to be completed within a year.
Typically, the average salary of MBA graduates in Australia is around AUD $33,500 (£87,500). Many also receive yearly bonuses of around AUD $28,600 (£16,000). But MBAs in Australia don’t come cheap. As one of the more expensive options on the list, you could be looking to pay up to AUD $161,000 (£90,000) for a two-year course.
At number four sits France which offers MBA holders a very similar salary to those in Australia. Typically, graduates will also find themselves on €100,200 (£87,500) with €18,300 (£16,000) bonuses. However, MBA courses in France are much cheaper, costing on average €20,000 (£17,500) per year. Most courses are between 16 months and two-years which means you would still be paying less than half of what you might in Australia.
France also has an extremely profitable economy, ranking as the fifth country in the Fortune Global 500. While it might not have the sun, sea and sand of Australia, it’s an excellent option for prospective MBA students.
Next up on the list is Canada. Here, you can expect a slightly higher salary, averaging just over CAD $136,500 (£88,500) per year. Equally, course costs are more affordable than other options on this list. Depending on the university you can expect to study for 18 months to two years and only pay around CAD $40,000 (£26,000) in tuition.
However, the average bonuses MBA graduates receive in Canada is slightly lower than in Australia or France, sitting around CAD $15,500 (£10,000).
In the silver position we have the United States of America. Home to many famous institutions, such as Harvard Business School, and ranking second in the Fortune Global 500 it’s no wonder America is such a popular location for postgraduate degrees.
After two years of study, MBA graduates could find themselves earning just over USD $101,000 (£90,000) a year. They could also expect yearly bonuses, averaging around USD $18,700 (£16,700). However, just like Australia, postgraduate education does not come cheap in the US. Prospective students should expect to see tuition fees of between USD $56,000 - $101,000 (£50,000 - £90,000).
At the very top of the list is Switzerland. As the seventh richest country in the world, Switzerland is a hub of international business. You can expect MBA salary levels to average at almost €126,000 (£110,000). Although slightly less than other countries, graduates will also likely receive yearly bonuses of around €17,700 (£15,500).
In Switzerland the cost of an MBA will not set you back as much as the USA or Australia. Tuition costs differ largely between universities and can be dependant on your settlement status, however fees usually sit between €34,300 - €80,100 (£30,000 - £70,000).
There’s no doubt that having an MBA degree can drastically improve your earning potential. If you’re interested in studying and MBA in any of the above-mentioned countries (or anywhere else in the world!) you can search for listing at FindAMasters.com
