As we reach the end of 2019, we thought that it would be worthwhile to reflect on some of our most-read blogs of the year. A running theme is ‘difference’ – between types of Masters, between undergraduate and postgraduate study, and between Masters and PhD programmes. We hope that you, our loyal readers, have found these blogs useful in your own search for a Masters.
There are plenty of fundamental differences between taught Masters and research Masters (and a few similarities!) but you might not know which one is right for you and your goals. This blog sheds some light on what these types of Masters actually involve and how you can make an informed decision on the best direction to take.
In some cases (usually in the Sciences) it’s possible to go straight from an undergraduate degree to a PhD. We’ve explained some of the benefits associated with doing so, as well as the key differences between a Masters programme and a doctorate.
Having worked three(!) jobs during her Masters, Chantelle knows a thing or two about balancing employment with a postgraduate qualification. In her blog, she describes the various kinds of work she funded her studies with and offers some tips for maintaining a healthy work-life-study balance.
Featuring a very tenuous Sum 41 reference, this blog takes an offbeat look at the transition from undergraduate to postgraduate life. From mysterious shifts in study habits to a scary sense of freedom, hopefully you’ll come away with a better idea of what to expect from your Masters experience after reading this.
Given the popularity of free stuff, it’s unsurprising that this blog topped the chart for 2019. We took a closer look at a selection of popular European destinations with free (or nearly free) Masters tuition.
We’d like to thank you for reading our blogs this year and wish you all the very best for 2020 – we hope that it’s a productive and successful one for you.
Next year we’ll be back as usual, keeping you up-to-date with the latest Brexit developments and what they mean for postgraduates. And, if you have a story to tell, why not blog for us? We’re always happy to give new writers a platform on FindAMasters.
Happy New Year from everyone at FindAMasters!
