As 2018 draws to a close, we hope that you’re enjoying a happy and restful festive period!
This year saw a few new developments in the world of postgraduate education, with the British Government introducing some welcome guarantees for EU students hoping to start a Masters in the UK in the 2019-20 academic year. The UK also expanded its Tier 4 pilot visa system, making it easier for international students to apply for a study visa.
To round off the year, we’ve decided to list our five most popular blogs. There’s a definite study abroad flavour – perhaps many of you are pondering your own study abroad adventure? – as well as practical advice on other aspects of the postgraduate experience.
Drawing on my experience of studying abroad in the Netherlands, this blog took a look at some of the main factors to consider when choosing a country for your Masters. From tuition fees and the language barrier to course length, there are plenty of aspects to think about.
Chantelle studied for her Masters while juggling three(!) jobs. In her blog, she shared advice for prospective students who might be in a similar position, explaining the pros and cons associated with different types of employment contract.
Time management is key to balancing work and study, and Chantelle’s blog offered practical tips for keeping on top of your academic and professional commitments.
Making the jump from a Bachelors to a Masters isn’t always the massive step that some people think it is. If you’ve chosen to study the same subject for both, for example, you’ll often find that there is a good deal of continuity between the two qualifications.
However, there are plenty of things that distinguish the postgraduate experience from the undergraduate one (most of them positive!), and this blog explored five of the most significant qualities that define a Masters.
If you’re looking for some study abroad inspiration, this blog is a good place to start. We headed off the beaten path to look at some options that might sometimes find themselves overshadowed by larger neighbours.
Alpine beauty, a high-tech Baltic nation and some of the most dramatic landscapes on the planet – there’s something for everyone in this eclectic list.
Everyone loves free stuff, right? Which is almost certainly why this blog was the most popular of the year. We rounded up some of the best value destinations for postgraduate study in Europe, looking at where it’s possible to study a Masters for free (as well as those countries that have particularly low tuition fees).
We hope that you’ve found these blogs useful – don’t forget to check back in 2019, when we’ll continue to keep you up-to-date with the latest funding opportunities and postgraduate developments. It goes without saying, but we’ll also be on top of everything Brexit (deal or no deal!), making sure that you’re aware of what it means for prospective and current Masters students.
