User: Micoaoi - 21 July 2024 14:58 My adviser has helped me with my thesis as he would critically review my paper and provide insightful feedback. Right now, I decided to publish my thesis and is contemplating to not include him as co-author since I did most of the work and his role was only to advise me with my paper? Thus, is it alright to exclude him? My field is in social sciences.

Moreover, it is for your good to include his name if you plan to collaborate in future. If you think he did not substantially contributed to your work, you can visit the journal's authorship guidelines and check whether he satisfies requirements for authorship.

Generally, it is not good idea to exclude him. Supervising a work alone does not qualify someone as an author. However, critical review is usually considered as intellectual contribution. Moreover, it is for your good to include his name if you plan to collaborate in future.
