Help...Suggestions needed for pursuing PG.

User: technie - 28 January 2012 15:26

Greetings everyone,
Let me give u some background :
I have done my mechanical engineering from a renowned institute from Pune securing good marks. I have interest in pursuing my career in Automobile field. I have done many good automobile related projects during my engg. And fortunately I got placed in July2010 in a company which is basically provides technical support for Automobile OEM's. Soo, I have been working on NVH analysis of automobiles for an US car company.

But for a good backup, I want to pursue a Mtech/MS course in Auto Engg once I complete my 2 years of my job, just to get a higher package as well as to boost my career.

The problem is wether I should leave such a good job (just for a better package in future) and take a risk for a post grad? What about recession in future?

I have 2 options:
1) Even if I complete my Ms from Germany/US I want to return back to India as soon as possible due to some personal reasons. So will companies in India favour my MS degree and consider it superior to Mtech?
Will it be worth? (position n financially)

2) And if I desire for a Mtech in Auto...which very few colleges offer in India, should I go for a college which is not that elite, ranking just above avg.(like College of Engg. Pune), and by taking a 2 year leave from company. hence recession wont affect much.
But will it be worth?
I have seen many people in my company who dont have high class degrees still they earn a lot n have good positions and also few pg iitians wrking along with me...(though they have a better package)

Hence I am a bit confused...hope u understand n clear my doubt.
