MSc International Festivals and Tourism Management |
| The PGDip/MSc in International Festivals and Tourism Management programme has been designed to provide a high quality vocational, personal and intellectually challenging education for those wishing to enhance their knowledge, skills and appeal to an international market. This course has been specifically designed to provide a high quality management education for existing managers and those with an appropriate undergraduate education who wish to aspire to a career in the dynamic area of international festivals and tourism management. Modern day tourism trends and analysis illustrate the competitive environment within which changing attraction provision and expansion can be successfully delivered. Therefore the emphasis throughout the programme is on the development of a wide range of professional and managerial skills linked to key themes within the area of festival and tourism management. The modules have been selected to ensure a blend of theoretical and practical issues within both a managerial and a subject specific context. The programme is a 12 month programme comprising three parts. The first two parts are the taught element and the final part is consists of research and writing the dissertation element. For full-time students the taught element is normally completed over a nine month period starting in October. Part Time students will normally attend on a one day a week basis and complete the taught element in two years. Students who complete the taught element of the programme, in part or in its entirety, may graduate with either a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Festivals and Tourism Event Management. Students wishing to complete the Masters of Science in International Festivals and Tourism Management must complete the research element. The research element comprises of a dissertation. Full-time students will normally complete this in the three months that follow the taught element, whilst part-time students complete this during the course of an academic session. |
