The University has been actively developing its research and knowledge transfer activities since it was founded in 1997.
Year on year more research is carried out, as a result of the priority given to this area by the university leadership and carrying out two research development plans, whose aim is to bring UVic research and knowledge transfer achievement up to a level where we can compete with other similar universities.
Research is organised through 19 research groups active n the fields of Experimental Science, Medicine, Humanities and Social Science. These research groups reflect the historical interests of the University, our location, and the interests of the teaching staff.
The stimulus over recent years given to UVic research has resulted in official recognition at the Catalan regional level for 5 of our research groups.
The ongoing growth in research activity at UVic has enhanced our competitive position and led to numerous cooperation agreements with enterprises and institutions that contribute to knowledge transfer, regional development and national and international prestige.
