About Faculty of Arts and Humanities

The faculty today houses nine departments with postgraduate courses: Arts & Sciences, the Centre for Multidisciplinary and Intercultural Inquiry, English Language & Literature, Greek & Latin, Hebrew & Jewish Studies, Philosophy, the School of European Languages, Culture & Society, the School of Slavonic & East European Studies, and the Slade School of Fine Art.

For the arts and humanities, UCL ranks 7th globally (THE World University Rankings 2025 by subject). A number of our subject areas are positioned first in their fields, such as the Slade School of Fine Art (#1 for Fine Art in the Guardian University Guide 2026) and Philosophy (#1 in the UK for 4* research and for Research Impact in REF2021).
