Student Profile

Jonnie Scott-Bromly

Building a Real Estate career with firm foundations
“The most important thing the master’s has done to help my career is give me access to the Bayes alumni network. In a relationship-driven industry like real estate, it’s such an advantage to build relationships with hundreds of other students who have studied Real Estate at Bayes.”
Jonnie Scott-Bromly completed a BA in Land Economy at the University of Cambridge before joining the MSc Real Estate Investment. He wanted to gain an edge when competing for graduate roles and develop a holistic understanding of the real estate market, alongside practical skills such as financial modelling.
“Bayes is unique because the focus is on the practical application of real estate finance. Other courses were predominantly geared around academic theory, rather than teaching students hard skills they could apply from day one in the workplace. That’s why I chose Bayes.”
Today, Jonnie is a Real Estate Investment Banking Analyst at Eastdil Secured in London.
“I gained skills on the master’s which I apply daily in my job now. Bayes taught me hard skills such as financial modelling, as well as how to think about value and its drivers. The coursework assignments were extremely helpful too – I learned how to use PowerPoint effectively and what makes a great presentation.”
An international elective in Amsterdam was another highlight.
“I chose the Real Estate Fund Management elective, which was directly applicable to much of the work I do now. Studying abroad with friends was a very special experience.”
The Careers Service also helped Jonnie prepare for the next stage of his career.
“The Careers Service was invaluable when it came to reviewing my CV and helping me prepare for interviews. I felt the MSc prepared me to walk into interviews with confidence.”
Networking was another major benefit of his time at Bayes.
“Bayes gives you so many opportunities to start building your network – from guest lectures with industry speakers to events run by the Real Estate Society. The connections and friends I have made have been amazing. Many I am still friends with today, and others I work with professionally.”
“I am very thankful for my time at Bayes. I have been fortunate to make friends for life, and I have learnt so much along the way.”
