Masters in Portugal

Portugal has a proud tradition of higher education, dating back to the thirteenth-century and celebrated each year with the annual quiema des fatas ('burning of the ribbons') student festival. It's also a popular study abroad destination, with over 18,500 international students studying abroad in Portugal (accounting for nearly 10% of total enrolments at Portuguese universities).

As a Masters student in Portugal you'll experience the benefits of this vibrant higher education culture (and those of the country's enviable climate!) whilst studying for a high-quality, internationally recognised qualification. You'll also be able to explore historic cities such as Coimbra and Lisbon, sample the excellent local cuisine and perhaps even learn a little Portuguese (an international language, spoken by more people worldwide than any other European language except Spanish and English). Portugal is also an excellent base from which to visit other parts of the Iberian Peninsula, including Spain and Gibraltar.

A Masters in Portugal usually takes between one and two years, with the Portuguese academic year running between September or October and July. Programmes are usually delivered in Portuguese, but some Masters are offered in English. EU / EEA students will not need a visa to study a Masters in Portugal, but will be required to register as residents.
