One of only four programmes in the UK to be accredited by the Charted Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and recognised by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) headquartered in the USA, our Masters provides you with a high-quality, professional qualification recognised around the world.
Building on your first degree and professional experience, you’ll deepen your academic knowledge and gain a broad understanding of best practice in management and leadership for an organisation's human resources from a number of perspectives including: multiple stakeholder; international; ethical; cultural; legal; operational and strategic. This programme also provides the specialised HR skills and employment law relevant for the UK.
We emphasise translating academic research and learning to real work situations in order to develop your professional, managerial and employability skills. Our students work on real-world issues through, for example, case studies, placements or investigative projects in their own organisation and through guest lectures by industry experts. We assess key HR skills separately from written assignments. Both full and part-time students have the opportunity to add value to their own work/organisation through a Business Investigation Report (PG Diploma) or HRM Research Project (Masters).
After graduation, you’ll be prepared for range of managerial and operational roles, where a key responsibility lies in managing, supporting and developing an organisation's human resources, in domestic, international and culturally diverse settings.
-Students on the full-time programme will undertake an industry placement within a Human Resources setting of an organisation, which allows you to experience your future career in practice.
-Award-winning support from induction through to graduation.
-Our induction programme and ongoing support prepares you to engage effectively academically and develop cultural sensitivity.
-Innovative teaching that focuses on learning for the real world and the employability of our graduates.

This course can also begin in JANUARY 2018 - for more information, view this link: http://www.gcu.ac.uk/gsbs/study/courses/details/index.php/P00422-1FTAB-1718/Human_Resource_Management?utm_source=YYYY&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=courselisting
A key feature of the full-time programme is the HR work placement. You’ll be based in the HR function of an organisation in the public, private or voluntary sector.
The placement is an integral part of the learning process and provides a valuable way of gaining some hands on experience and developing key skills in a real environment, which is valued by employers.
The placement is linked with the final project. Drawing on academic theory, you’ll be directly involved in investigating a particular human resource management issue in practice. Along with developing your knowledge and analytical skills, the placement gives you a realistic view of organisations and the human resource challenges faced. The organisation you’ll be working with also benefits from the findings and recommendations from your investigation.
The HRM programmes are delivered by a specialist staff with expertise and recognition both in academia and industry with background across a range of national and international organisations including some well know blue-chip giants across both public and private sector organisations.
Colleagues from across the Department of Business Management contribute expertise in areas including: Strategic Management; Operations Management; the management of technology; and entrepreneurship.
In addition to the specialist teaching staff, we also bring industry experts into our classrooms and take our students out of the university and into workplaces to learn. You will experience case based learning and will have the opportunity for hosted project work. We aim to make your learning meaningful and relevant to the world of work.
