PgD Dietetics (pre-registration)

Course Description

The core educational aim of the Pg Diploma in Dietetics is to produce graduates who have specialist knowledge in the field of applied nutrition and therapeutic dietetics, practical skills in the area of clinical nutrition, an in depth understanding of an appropriate range of biological sciences such as biochemistry, microbiology, physiology and pharmacology, together with a sound appreciation for the social sciences of Sociology and Psychology promoting intellectual skills of reasoning and communication skills such as empathy, listening and reflection. We aim to produce graduates who satisfy the BDA curriculum framework, who meet the HCPC standards of proficiency for knowledge and professional skills and who are fit to practise and embrace lifelong learning.

Graduates in dietetics are suitable for work in the NHS, private practice, industry, education, research, sport,
media, public relations, publishing, non-government organisations and government. Their advice influences
food and health policy across the spectrum from government to local communities and individuals

Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Entry Requirements

UK Honours degree 2:1 (or equivalent) in a subject containing a substantial proportion (about 30%) of human physiology and biochemistry.IELTS score of 7.0 (or equivalent)If you do not meet the English language requirements, you may be eligible for the English for University Study programme.
