The Master of Nursing Practice is a two-year graduate entry master degree that can lead you to be eligible for registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.The course consists of four semesters plus a summer term coursework program.
In this comprehensive program of study, you will cover a diverse range of simulated practice and fieldwork, interprofessional learning, contemporary blended learning and advanced clinical development.
Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to integrate evidence-based theory and clinical practice. Theory content is comprehensive and includes physical, biological, psychological and social sciences.
Professional practice experience is integrated into the course. Overall, you will be required to complete 216 hours of simulated experience and 840 hourse of professional practice experience in an appropriate workplace.
This course is designed to meet the regulations of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. When you successfully complete the course requirements, you are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Registration is subject to meeting all requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. To meet the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you are expected to complete the course within five years. Failure to complete the course in the allocated time period may mean you will need to undertake additional units to ensure currency of practice.
Upon graduation, you can work as a registered nurse in a variety of health settings such as public and private hospitals, community centres, nursing homes, home-based services and international organisations. Opportunities also exist in clinical education, research and management areas.
Credit for previous study
Applications for credit for recognised learning (CRL) are assessed on an individual basis. To be considered for credit, work experience and qualifications must be completed within the previous seven years (from the date of enrolment). Further information can be found at the future students website.
Application Deadline: 4 weeks prior to start of Semester 2 This course is available part-time to Australian citizens and permanent residents and is subject to unit availabilities, which may increase the course duration. International students studying in Australia on a student visa are required to undertake a full-time internal study load.

You will need to keep these requirements current during your course. You are responsible for the cost of these. You must also be available to undertake clinical practice during and/or outside semester in health care facilities.
