As developers it’s crucial we act ethically, so you’ll consider legal and security aspects of data protection and information security, while ensuring you’re critically aware of current problems and developing new insights on the subject.
There’s plenty of opportunity for practical work, as you use our specialist labs to understand and build cloud computing applications and infrastructures, as well as analysing and developing solutions to practical applications of big data sets within a business environment.

There’s a real need for personnel who can advise managers on the suitability of each type of cloud service and their potential pitfalls, as well as those who are able to design and implement such systems whether privately or publically managed.

Applicants will normally hold a first or second class honours degree in a computing discipline. Candidates with degrees in other disciplines but with relevant experience will also be considered. Such candidates will normally have worked for 3 or more years at a responsible level in an area closely related to the academic discipline to be studied. Such applicants will be interviewed by the course leader or nominated respresentative to ascertain that the applicant has the ability to succeed at postgraduate level.
