Master of Information Technology Management


Course Description

Information technology is vital in every business endeavour, including marketing, sustainability and entrepreneurship. The sector appears everywhere from sports and education to law and science. Prepare for a management or leadership role in this vibrant industry with our two year Master of Information Technology Management. You'll be qualified to work in IT-related areas across the government, private or not-for-profit sectors.

The degree delivers both technical and management skills, with expertise and industry partnerships coming from our Department of Computer Science and business school.

Study projects provide opportunities for work experience to build your networks and expertise. Overseas study options are also possible with partner universities in over 30 countries.

English Language Requirements

IELTS (Academic): minimum score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0.

TOEFL Paper-based Test: minimum score of 575 (minimum score of 5 in the Test of Written English).

TOEFL Internet-based Test: minimum score of 80 with minimum overall for SLR 18; W 22.

La Trobe Melbourne (ELICOS): Completion of the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 6B at La Trobe Melbourne with minimum 60 per cent overall and 60 per cent in final exam. For more information please visit the La Trobe Melbourne website.

English as the language of instruction in tertiary studies may be accepted. Please note: English as the language of instruction in previous study will not be accepted as a basis of admission (English) for courses where the approved test score requirement is above an IELTS 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0.

Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): minimum score of 64 with no communicative skill score less than 59.

Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): a grade of B or higher.

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): a grade of C or higher.

Or approved international equivalent.

Additional information

This course commences in Summer (October), Semester 1 (March) and Semester 2 (July). If you want to do postgraduate business courses in Summer (October) you must complete the full two years of the course with no Advanced Standing (credit). The Summer Semester will be taught only at the Melbourne Campus.

Entry Requirements

An Australian Bachelor's degree, which has provided a basic proficiency in programming, in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or a degree determined to be equivalent by La Trobe University. Admission may be granted to applicants without an undergraduate degree but with a demonstrated minimum of at least five years relevant work experience. In making an offer to an applicant, the University may give consideration to a range of factors including English proficiency, academic record and employment experience.
