The Masters in International Management is designed to meet the needs of both business and non-business related graduates to acquire the knowledge and skills required to take up executive management positions with companies operating in the global market. This intensive one-year Masters programme, taught through English, combines managerial theory with the development of business skills across two countries.
Two of the most commonly used words to describe the changes taking place in the business and commercial environment are ‘internationalisation’ and ‘globalisation’. The trend towards both is ever increasing and it is vital for companies operating internationally to anticipate and
meet the challenges they present. The development of sustainable strategies thus requires an extensive knowledge of contemporary management concepts and innovative means of
implementation as well as a thorough appreciation of the economic, cultural and social environment at an international level.
Programme Aims and Objectives
Participants will acquire:
• An understanding of the business disciplines that underpin commerce in an international context
• The ability to develop an interdisciplinary approach to international business
• The skills and cultural sensitivity necessary to manage in an international environment
• The capacity to manage and to introduce change, arising from the changing nature of international organisations, the application of new technology and the globalisation
An honours bachelor degree in a non-business discipline or a bachelors degree in a business or a business-related field. All courses are delivered through the English language but applicants should have sufficient language competency to enable them to pursue their studies
in their chosen host countries. Evidence of an acceptable GMAT score, or equivalent standard,may also be requested.
The M.Sc. in International Management is delivered by the International Partnership of Business Schools (IPBS), a consortium of leading schools located in Boston (USA), Dublin (Ireland), Lancaster (England), Madrid (Spain), Reims (France), Reutlingen (Germany), Piacenza (Italy) and Puebla (Mexico). The course is structured such that non-business graduates begin their studies in either Ireland or England, while business graduates start the programme in England or France.
The course is run over a period of twelve months, beginning late September or early October. The first term consists of 12 weeks of classes followed by examinations before moving to Country 2.
The second semester runs from February to May, followed by examinations and the submission of a dissertation or company project in August. Graduates of this degree will receive a dual award – in effect they receive an MSc in
International Management from the institution in which they complete their studies, together with IPBS certification from the first institution in which they begin their studies.
