Masters in Management

Course Description

Please note that application deadlines for students from EU countries can be extended on a case by case basis.

The ESMT Master's in Management combines fieldwork in global companies with applied coursework and research on the latest business management theories. Admitted students have a variety of backgrounds during their bachelor's studies and use the time at ESMT to gain valuable knowledge and interdisciplinary experience on how to apply their previous expertise to economic and management problems.

The program is designed for students with backgrounds in analytical subjects like finance, economics, science, mathematics, engineering, or similar - although students from all backgrounds with a proven ability in analytic problem solving are welcome to apply. The ESMT MIM program uses an interdisciplinary approach: students apply analytical theory to economic analysis, product development, and new technology management within the global marketplace. Students planning to pursue an academic career also have unique access to research practices and projects with ESMT's faculty.

Career management is an integral part of the MIM program with regular seminars built into the curriculum. From day one you will start working to improve your CV and interview skills. By the end of the MIM program, you will better understand how to plan your job search strategy, navigate your own career path, build and activate your own networks and negotiate your desired salary.

In addition to the soft skills necessary for your career, you will be able to learn directly from senior business leaders what it is like to work in various industries. You will meet with representatives from industry, logistics, consulting, and transportation sectors to name a few.

The Master’s in Management includes significant in-company experience. You will complete two internships in Germany or abroad. ESMT’s career services will work with you to find the right company placement, which can be conducted in a global corporation, a mid-size company or Berlin start-up. You will write your final master’s thesis during your second internship.

Meet the MIM class

2576.jpg Meet our MIM class of 2014-2016: our pioneer class gathering an elite group of talented recent graduates from all over the world. The MIM program accepts top-performing students with a first degree and little or no postgraduate work experience. No matter where they come from or what they've studied, all our students share a desire to launch an international career while applying analytical solutions to today's business problems.

Our MIM classes are small, diverse groups. ESMT searches for students with international experience who can perform work in high-performing, diverse teams. Our MIM program is by far the most diverse in Germany - no one country makes up more than 15% of the class.

At 85% international, the Master's in Management program is actually the most diverse program of its kind in Germany. Students come from 19 different countries, and are on average 23. Many, but not all, completed studies or internships outside of their home country.

For German applicants, the MIM program is an excellent way to get immersed in an international setting while living in Berlin and gaining valuable contacts in Germany's top companies.
