Performance Practices MFA

Course Description

- Be supported in your transition from student to independent artist and/or researcher
- Enhance your ability to effectively respond to an ever-changing world of work
- Establish professional links through work-based learning with regional and national arts-based organisations
- Develop your writing, making and thinking by engaging with current contemporary performance practice and theory
- Select from optional modules to design a personal pathway through the course
- Embed your current semi/professional activities into your course
- Work with an energetic, research-active staff team with international profiles in contemporary performance practices

This course functions as a bridging year between your studies and more professional contexts by developing your skills and knowledge to support them in achieving your goals.

Vice-Chancellor's Sports Scholarships - 20+ Awards

As part of De Montfort University's (DMU) ongoing commitment to sport and enhancing our students' experience, we are delighted to offer the new Vice-Chancellor's Sports Scholarships; available to full-time UK and EU undergraduate and postgraduate students, starting in September 2016. The Vice-Chancellor's Sports Scholarship provides an opportunity for talented students to develop their performance in sports, becoming a DMU champion for sport, and performing in the British Universities and College Sport (BUCS) and Varsity competitions; whilst gaining a recognised degree qualification, across a wide range of courses and disciplines*.Each of our 30 dedicated packages provides students up to £6,000 of support each; including a £4,000 cash bursary and £2,000 towards sport-specific support, such as; physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, and private medical insurance for example.

Up to £6000


- Be a UK or EU status student
- Be starting a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught course at DMU in September 2016
- Compete at a high representative level, and most-importantly be able to demonstrate passion and commitment to your sport
- Participate in the annual DMU sports club 'trials' and selection process within your chosen sport
- Where appropriate, be an enthusiastic role model to represent DMU; for example, with external partners, in the media, to prospective DMU students at Open Days and any other suitable event
- Where appropriate, compete for DMU in all competitions and training events, including at Varsity and BUCS events.

Friday 29 July - Successful applicants will be informed of final decision

Entry Requirements

You should have the equivalent of a 2:1 or above UK bachelor’s honours degree in a related subject, such as Dance, Drama or Performing Arts. If you have other professional qualifications and industry experience we will consider your application on an individual basis. Evidence of previous performance practice material (statements, images or online links) is required.You may be asked to attend an interview, this could be via Skype or phone.
