The School of Design continues to be in a strong position to support and help students to realise their potential, with highly experienced teaching staff, expert technicians and significant relationships with industry. Excellent resources are available to support each pathway, including specialist equipment and computerised machinery for the manufacture of footwear prototypes. There are also a wide range of workshops for print, weave, knit, dye, textiles testing, plastics, metalwork and laser cutting. Adobe Creative Suite and other industry-standard software applications are available in CAD labs across the School of Design and in the library.
As part of De Montfort University's (DMU) ongoing commitment to sport and enhancing our students' experience, we are delighted to offer the new Vice-Chancellor's Sports Scholarships; available to full-time UK and EU undergraduate and postgraduate students, starting in September 2016. The Vice-Chancellor's Sports Scholarship provides an opportunity for talented students to develop their performance in sports, becoming a DMU champion for sport, and performing in the British Universities and College Sport (BUCS) and Varsity competitions; whilst gaining a recognised degree qualification, across a wide range of courses and disciplines*.Each of our 30 dedicated packages provides students up to £6,000 of support each; including a £4,000 cash bursary and £2,000 towards sport-specific support, such as; physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, and private medical insurance for example.

- Be a UK or EU status student - Be starting a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught course at DMU in September 2016 - Compete at a high representative level, and most-importantly be able to demonstrate passion and commitment to your sport - Participate in the annual DMU sports club 'trials' and selection process within your chosen sport - Where appropriate, be an enthusiastic role model to represent DMU; for example, with external partners, in the media, to prospective DMU students at Open Days and any other suitable event - Where appropriate, compete for DMU in all competitions and training events, including at Varsity and BUCS events.

Successful candidates will have the equivalent or above of a 2:2 UK bachelor’s honours degree in a related subject, such as footwear or sports science. Candidates with a degree in medical subject relevant to the chosen project/research pathway will also be considered.If you have other professional qualifications and industry experience we will consider your application on an individual basis. We will also require you to submit a written proposal outlining your understanding of bespoke or biomechanics footwear.
