A company-based thesis takes place within a real organisation. You will undertake a relevant individual project, identified through our close links with industry and commerce. You will have an academic advisor at Cranfield, but will also work closely with the sponsoring organisation.
A research-based thesis allows you to develop a topic that is practical, innovative and of particular interest to you. You will be supported by faculty whose expertise lies in your chosen area, and will be assisted in developing and following a research plan. This will enable you to formulate the problem, undertake the necessary empirical analysis and draw appropriate conclusions.
Learning is assessed through a combination of assignments and written exams. Modules containing a high theoretical content are assessed by examination, and written assignments are used where practical application is more relevant, or where knowledge and understanding may be demonstrated through discussion or critique of a particular topic.
