MSc Logistics

Course Description


This course provides students with a well recognised qualification which enables them to apply for a wide range of jobs in logistics, distrobution, transport, warehousing, freight managmenet, consultancy and other related areas.

The course aims to equip you with the knowledge, technical expertise and confidence to become a highly competent and self sufficient logistics professional. Our unique 'activity led learning' approach and close colloboration with industry will provide you with practical skills and strategic insights into the important aspects of the profession.

The course is applying for accreditation by the Chartered Insititue of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and has been designed to meet the needs of graduates and professionals alike by offering both full-time and par-time study routes, enabling progression to full membership of the Cilt.

This course introduces students to all the key aspects of logistics management, providing a framework within to develop a deep understanding of the subject applicable to a wide range of industries both locally and globally. The course explores different ways that the management of logistics can significantly controbute to wealth creation, competitiveness, and to the advancement of individuals and society.

Industrial visits, case studies, visiting speakers and simulations are used to demonstrate the impact of world class logistics and supply chain management within different industries.

All students will study the module 'Study Skills and Research Methods' In Addition, you will take eight taught topics and complere a Masters project. the Topics studied are:

Lean Management
Financial Decision Making and Risk Analysis
For the award of MSc you must sucessfully complete an individual masters research project or an industry based applied project.

Entry Requirements

To enter the course you need to have one of the following: A good honours degree or an equivalent qualification, A relevant professional qualification of equivalent standard eg, BCS Professional Graduate Diploma, CEng, CIM Diploma, an unclassified degree plus at least two years further study or professional experience, if you have no formal qualifications but have professional business or industrial experience, we will consider your application on its merits, English language IELTS 6.5.
