Higher Education (MED)


Course Description

The Higher Education Program (HIED) at UBC focuses on the study of all facets of institutions of higher learning. The multifaceted, interdisciplinary Program draws on aspects of history, philosophy, sociology, economics, political science, psychology, sociology, law, and administrative studies. The Program addresses several core themes:

Program Overview

The Higher Education graduate program at UBC focuses on the study of institutions of higher education and their members, activities, and policies. The program draws on such disciplines and fields as history, philosophy, sociology, economics, political science, psychology, law, and administrative studies.

The Higher Education graduate program offers a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Higher Education. The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Educational Studies program also offers a concentration in higher education. Both M.Ed. and M.A. programs are also available as part-time studies.

International Tuition Award - No. of awards TBC

International Tuition Awards assist international graduate students with their tuition fees if they are registered full-time in research-oriented master’s and doctoral programs.

Value of Scholarship(s)

Up to $3,200 per annum

Eligibility

Students must hold a valid Student Authorization (Study Permit).

Application Procedure

Students do not need to apply, as all international students who are eligible are automatically considered for this scholarship. Awards are assigned on the Student Information System, and, once assigned, can be viewed by logging onto the Student Service Centre.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to a master’s degree program at UBC, applicants must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree (apart from applicants from Quebec) with a minimum overall average in the B+ range (at UBC 76%) in third- and fourth-year courses prescribed by the Department concerned as prerequisite to the master’s program.
