The Religious Studies graduate program offers courses of instruction leading to both the Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Studies leading to the M.A. degree are offered in the following areas of concentration: Biblical Studies; Christian Thought and Institutions; History of Religions; Islamic Studies; and Judaic Studies.

Modern Language Requirements
Students are required to demonstrate reading knowledge of an approved modern language (usually French, German or Italian). This requirement must be met before the end of the first year of study. Any courses taken to satisfy this requirement do not count towards the 30 credits required for the program.
International Tuition Awards assist international graduate students with their tuition fees if they are registered full-time in research-oriented master’s and doctoral programs.
Value of Scholarship(s)
Up to $3,200 per annum
Students must hold a valid Student Authorization (Study Permit).
Students do not need to apply, as all international students who are eligible are automatically considered for this scholarship. Awards are assigned on the Student Information System, and, once assigned, can be viewed by logging onto the Student Service Centre.
Applicants for a Master’s Degree must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or its academic equivalent with either : (i) Honours in the field of the proposed Master’s courses with first-class standing in at least twelve credits (two full-year courses) of third- and fourth-year course work in that field OR (ii) first-class standing in at least twelve credits of the course work and at least second-class standing in the remaining course work at the third- and fourth-year level prescribed by the Department as prerequisite to the Master’s program.
