Course Description

This Masters in Enterprise and Innovation Management offers you the skills and knowledge from which you will launch your managerial career in the stimulating areas of innovation and enterprise. Not only will you gain a thorough academic understanding of management theories and methodologies, you will also apply your learning to authentic case studies drawn from noteworthy enterprises and initiatives. In doing so, you will develop a strong understanding the effective management of people and organisations to create successful, innovative businesses.

On completion of this course you will have a robust and flexible understanding of enterprise and innovation that can be applied in a range of work contexts such as business, marketing or finance, as well as in any management role within private, public and charitable sectors.

The main objective of this Masters degree is to equip you with a fundamental understanding of strategies for managing and developing individuals, teams, departments and companies. You will study subjects including decision-making, implementation delivery, management of people and organisations, contemporary leadership and much more. Your studies will be directed towards gaining a masterful understanding of enterprise and innovation so that you are thoroughly prepared for the challenges of modern business management.

Among many challenging topics you will study subjects including entrepreneurial learning and social capital, social entrepreneurship, business growth and developing international business in small businesses. You will understand the role of management in creating the environments for success in business innovation and enterprise, and you will contribute to the learning environment of the School of Management and Business through your own research projects.

Your MSc programme will culminate in writing this course's equivalent to the final dissertation – the Managerial Report. This report will bring together the knowledge gained during the programme and allow you the opportunity to apply your learning to a specific issue or problem within the realms of enterprise and innovation in business. You will also be required to focus on your own personal skills and consciously develop them in order that you can be the most effective manager of people, organisations and resources in a challenging business environment.

In addition to this first-rate management training, you will also nurture a skill set perfect for almost any role in any business or postgraduate workplace. You will be confident in project management and people management; in planning, budgeting and decision-making; and in marketing, economics and business management. This will make you a desirable employee for a wide range of public and private sector organisations and businesses.

The Institute for Management, Law and Information Science (IMLIS) have introduced the following scholarship schemes for taught Masters students, making these Postgraduate degrees probably the best value for money in 2014.

-IMLIS Fully Funded Excellence Scholarships
These full fee scholarships are open to all Nationalities and are for full time study only on a Taught programme in the Institute. The scholarships cover full tuition fees only

-IMLIS Taught Masters Scholarships
The Institute of Management, Law and Information Science are offering Taught Excellence Scholarships to external candidates (separate scholarship scheme for IMLIS and general Aberystwyth Graduates is also available) worth between £1000 and £4000. The scholarships for September 2014 entry are available for full time Taught programmes in the Institute and are open to all Nationalities.

The Institute of Management, Law and Information Science are offering two Fully funded Excellence Scholarships for September 2014 entry. These full fee scholarships are open to all Nationalities and are for full time study only on a Taught programme in the Institute. The scholarships cover full tuition fees only.

UK and EU students: 1st Class and 2:1 students: £2000 tuition fee scholarship. 2:2: £1000 tuition fee scholarship.
Overseas students: 1st Class and 2:1 students: £4000 tuition fee scholarship. 2:2: £3000 tuition fee scholarship.

Deadlines: You must hold an offer for an eligible programme in the Institute by the 31st August 2014. Please note that decisions on applications for taught courses can take up to two weeks so please ensure that you apply will in advance of this deadline.
Selection Criteria: The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic performance and are subject to final grades. We will also consider relevant work or other experience when allocating scholarships.

International Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship - 20+ Awards

The scholarships will be awarded for academic excellence (minimum of a UK upper second class honours degree or the equivalent award, either already achieved or predicted by the candidate’s awarding university).In order to be considered for one of these awards, an application for a place on a taught Masters degree at Aberystwyth University must be received by 31st August 2015.Up to 72 scholarships worth £2500 towards tuition fees for full-time non-EU students on taught Masters courses are available for students who commence their studies in September 2015 on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Eligibility

Up to 72 scholarships, each worth £2,500 towards tuition fees will be available for non-UK/EU students commencing full-time Taught Masters courses in September 2015.

Application Procedure

Separate application forms are not required. Therefore it is essential that the application for a place be received by the AU Postgraduate Admissions Office by 31st August 2015 at the very latest.

Selection will be on the basis of academic excellence and the applicant’s suitability for their proposed course. A minimum (UK) 2.i Honours (or equivalent) is required for an award.
